Our Lab at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley conducts interdisciplinary research to advance safe, livable, and future-ready transportation systems for all. We integrate behavioral economics, mathematical psychology, and data science to understand and shape the adoption of emerging mobility technologies like autonomous vehicles on the ground and in the air, and electric vehicles. Our work spans uncertainty-aware and explainable AI for safety-critical operations and data-driven decision support for resilient mobility planning. Supported by multi-institution initiatives — such as NSF CREST (MECIS), the USDOT Safety21 National UTC, the NSF CISE, and NASA — our research translates into high-impact publications, public tools, and partnerships with agencies and industry. Students and collaborators interested in human-centered and evidence-based mobility are welcome to connect.
